Chicane

Just a word of warning. There’s a restaurant called Chicane just off Oxford Street. It was having a special deal – buy an entree dish and dessert and get a main for $4, so I went to dinner with Kev and Cath earlier in the week to check it out. Even though the meal was about $40 with the deal, even that was bad value. Food’s not terrific, service was inordinately slow, waiters looked like they really wished they were somewhere else, they got our order wrong, failed to refill bread and water, overly dim lighting… unsatisfying.

2/10 – only because the bathroom was fancy.

Food was ordinary – couldn’t even cook a crisp roast pork, service was shit, value terrible. No way Chicane can be classed as fine dining.

DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT!

I think it’s quite funny how you rate the places you eat at. Not saying it should or shouldn’t be done, but it’s just funny. Would love to be a fly on the wall for one of your dinners :)

Oh, don’t get me wrong… I don’t walk into like a KFC joint and comment on the food like someone with a stick up his ass. But the so-called “fine dining” joints around town warrant some sort of commentary! (Hey, if I can comment on an $11 movie, surely I can comment on a meal :)

True true, but a movie cost MILLIONS of dollars to make, and make profit over 100000s of ticket sales, where a single meal is sold for profit :) (bad similie :P)
